Drew Dvornski is a passionate 17-year old trumpet player from Buffalo, New York. Since he first picked up a trumpet at the age of 10, he has worked hard to develop a sound that’s both powerful and expressive, drawing inspiration from both classical and jazz music.
Drew is a Junior at Frontier High School, where he is Principal Trumpet in the Wind Ensemble, Orchestra Winds, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Pep Band. He’s been selected for NYSSMA Conference All-State Symphonic Band, the NYSSMA Area All-State Band and Jazz Band, and has served as principal trumpet for the All-County Senior High Orchestra and lead trumpet in the Senior High Jazz Band. He also received the Band Director’s Award and consistently earns top ratings at regional solo festivals.
Outside of school, Drew takes private lessons with Geoffrey Hardcastle of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Mark Filsinger of Buffalo State University. He also served as principal trumpet for the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra, the Southtowns Youth Orchestra, and the Erie County All-Star Band.
In addition to performing, Drew enjoys composing and arranging music. He loves experimenting with different styles to create new sounds and explore what the future of jazz might look like. When he’s not playing, he serves as an active member in his church community, volunteers at local art events, supports other young musicians, and explores Buffalo’s music scene. Drew plans to study music in college and hopes to one day perform professionally and help inspire the next generation of musicians.
